Privacy Policy

Kith & Keen (“we,” “us”) provides warm daily conversations and mind-keeping games for older adults. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to what the service needs — nothing more.

Who this covers

Two kinds of people use Kith & Keen: the account holder (often a family member or friend who sets things up and pays) and the participant (the older adult who has the daily conversations). This policy applies to both.

What we collect

Account details — your name, email, and password (stored only as a secure hash).
Participant profile — the name, interests, hometown, and background you choose to add so sessions can be personalized.
Conversation content — what is said during daily sessions, including short transcripts and the memories and stories a participant chooses to share.
Usage data — which sessions happened and how the games went, so difficulty can be gently tuned over time.
Billing data — handled by Stripe. We never see or store full card numbers; Stripe gives us only a customer reference and subscription status.

How we use it

To run daily sessions and personalize them to the participant.
To compile shared storybooks — only from memories a participant has chosen to share (private reminiscences are never published).
To manage your subscription and send service emails.
To keep the service secure and working.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use conversation content to train third-party advertising models.

Service providers

To deliver the service we share limited data with trusted processors: Anthropic (to compose conversations), ElevenLabs and Deepgram (voice), Resend (email), Stripe (payments), and our hosting and database providers (Vercel and Neon). Each processes data only to perform its function.

A note on health

Kith & Keen is not a medical service. It does not diagnose conditions, give medical or medication advice, or claim to prevent memory loss. Conversation content is not medical information.

Your choices

Turn a participant's shared storybook on or off at any time.
Mark a memory private so it is never included in a shared chapter.
Request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete an account and its data.

Retention & security

We keep data for as long as your account is active and delete it on request. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, and access is limited to what's needed to run the service. We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal data against loss, theft, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security; if we become aware of a breach affecting your data, we will notify you and take appropriate steps as required by law.
